Alex Ferguson lifted the Scottish National Cup championship on 05.22.1982, after Aberdeen beat Glasgow Rangers 4-1. This championship is extremely important to his career, by the events that took place a year later.

11/05/1983. Aberdeen beat Real Madrid 2-1 to win the the C3 Cup championship and became the 3rd Scottish club to win a continental title. Alex Ferguson and his assistant Archie Knox lifted the trophy.
Photo taken in 1985. Now Alex Ferguson has become one of the members of the coaching staff in Scotland (he still held in Aberdeen).

On 09/10/1985, Wales face Scotland in match tickets decisions Mexico 1986. Air Scotland should be enough, but Wales must win. The match ended with the score 1-1 to Scotland equalized from 11m in the last 10 minutes, and Scotland in the World Cup. Scotland players celebrate, but Alex Ferguson is not. That is the game that end, Jock Stein had collapsed on the pitch and later died while being treated in the locker room because of a heart attack.
